PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output data which indicates the length of an object to be measured as the result of measurement. SOLUTION: In a measuring/controlling system 16 in a controller 2, images created by a sensor head 1 are processed to measure the distance to the object to be measured. When measuring processing is performed on a model of which the height is known, a GUI system 17 accepts the input of a numeral value which indicates the height of the model and registers it as an offset value in a memory. The measured value obtained on the model at this time is registered as a reference measured value in the memory. The measuring/controlling system 16 converts the measured value obtained on the object to be measured into data which indicates the height of the object to be measured through the reference measured value and the offset value.
