PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter for a water saver enabling the water saver to be integrally attached to a faucet by use of a simple structure, and a method of installing it. SOLUTION: The adapter includes a cylindrical body 12 made of synthetic resin which is mounted within piping such as a city water discharge pipe 42 and longitudinally fitted around the piping, and a flange portion 16 formed integrally with the peripheral edge of the inflow side end face 14 of the body 12. The water saver 24 with a water-saving flow passage narrower than the inside diameter of the body 12 is locked inside the body 12. The body 12 has a slit 20 formed along the longitudinal direction of the body 12 and being open to the outflow side end face of the body 12.
