PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a computer in a collaborative environment. SOLUTION: A program which generates a user interface screen (28) is performed by a controlled side computer (12). The screen is captured and transmitted to a controlling side computer. The controlling side computer (14) originates input events and the events are transmitted to the controlled side computer and interpreted in accordance with the program. The logical portions of the screen (50) are identified on the basis of the input events and the program, and are cached at the controlling side computer to speed display of changes in the screen and reduce bandwidth loads.
