A battery pack locking apparatus in a portable terminal is provided to offer maximized operation convenience to a user by enabling the user to attach and detach a battery pack with one hand and making the battery pack automatically separated by the action of an elastic repulsion unit when locking is released. A battery pack locking apparatus in a portable terminal comprises a seesaw motion locking member(150), a sliding knob(130), a pressurizing elastic unit(140), and an elastic repulsion unit(160). The seesaw motion locking member(150), of which both lateral parts make a seesaw motion, is installed above the upper part of a battery packet mounting surface part and in the inside of a main body(100). On one lateral part of the seesaw motion locking member(150), a protrusion part(150a) is formed so as to be inserted into an insertion slot(202) formed at a battery pack(200). At one side of the sliding knob(130), a contact interference part(130b) is protruded and formed. As the contact interference part(130b) moves on the seesaw motion locking member(150), the seesaw motion locking member(150) makes a seesaw motion. The pressurizing elastic unit(140), installed in the main body(100), provides elastic force to pressurize the sliding knob toward the seesaw motion locking member(150). The elastic repulsion unit(160) is installed on the battery packet mounting surface part. Elastically restored when locking is released as the protrusion part(150a) of the seesaw motion locking member(150) is separated from the insertion slot(202) of the battery pack(200), the elastic repulsion unit(160) lifts up the battery pack(200) so that it can be automatically separated from the battery packet mounting surface part.
