The present invention relates to an electric stove and a method for controlling the same. The electric stove according to an aspect of the present invention includes a main body which includes a cooking room and an electric device room; a door which selectively opens/closes the cooking room; a camera module which photographs the inside of the cooking room through a hole connected to the cooking room and the electric device room through the opening of the door; a shield part which selectively shields the hole by the opening of the door; and a control part which detects the material of a container inputted into the cooking room based on an image photographed by the camera module. So, a dangerous situation can be prevented by detecting the material of a food container. |
