PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key management system for managing a key for authentication in an on-vehicle control system constituted by a plurality of MCUs.SOLUTION: A key management system comprises: an end MCU 50 included in a vehicle; a master MCU 20 for transmitting/receiving data to/from the end MCU 50 through an on-vehicle network for control; and a key management server device 10 for transmitting/receiving data to/from the MCU 20 through a radio communication network. The master MCU 20 comprises: a second key storage unit for storing a second key to be used for authenticating the end MCU 50; and a second key management unit that generates an update key for the second key to update the second key stored in the second key storage unit. The key management server device 10 comprises: a first key storage unit for storing a first key to be used for authenticating the master MCU 20 and the second key; and a first key management unit that generates a first key to update the first key stored in the first key storage unit and generates an initial second key to update the second key stored in the first key storage unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
