The automatically-operated door has a hinge pin assembly which includes an electromagnet (22, 30). The core bolt (30) which slides inside the magnetic coil has a cross pin (60) which protrudes into a coaxial cam sleeve (50). The cam bush is fixed so that neither linear nor rotary motion is possible. An axial compression spring (40) returns the core bolt to its normal position when the coil is deenergesied. To operate the door, the coil is energised, so that the core bolt (30) is given a rotary motion by the cam sleeve which is transmitted to the outer shell of the hinge assembly (13). The torque is transmitted by the blade (32) which is attached to one end of the core bolt and located in a slot in the hinge shell.
