<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture in a short time a magnetic head with a precise track part with a little work strain, by selectively removing a surface part, irradiated with a laser beam, by irradiating the circumference part of a magnetic head core with the laser beam except its track part. CONSTITUTION:Core slider 3 formed of slider 1 and center rail 2 a little bit wider than a target track width is manufactured by grinding or polishing. Next, gap 4 of core slider 3 is irradiated with a laser beam from laser light source 5 which was expanded by beam expander 6 composed of a convex lens and then contracted and shaped by slit 7 with a track pattern in the same shape as a track to be worked, and lens 8, thereby removing the surface of the irradiated part. In this case, the work surface of core slider 3 should agree with the image formation surface of the optical system, and the track pattern in a slit image should also agree with where the track is to be formed.</p> |
