PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a removing method of nitrogen oxides by which nitrogen oxides can be efficiently reduced and removed from a combustion exhaust gas containing nitrogen oxides and oxygen in a larger amt. than the stoichiometric amt. to the unburned component such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen and hydrocarbons. SOLUTION: A removing material for nitrogen oxides comprising a catalyst for the removing reaction is disposed in the conduit for an exhaust gas. The component of an oil-base liquid fuel which is vaporized at <=400 deg.C is added as a reducing agent to the exhaust gas in the upstream side of the removing material, and the mixture gas is brought into contact with the removing material at 150 to 600 deg.C to remove nitrogen oxides.
