A concentrated nutrient for fungus cultivation and a process for making it are distinguished in that cattle excrement is prepared biochemically/microbially, i.e. by fermentation and/or composting, in such a way that the end product has a low pH suitable for the fungus mycelium, has substantially no free ammonia and contains high concentrations of lignoprotein usable selectively by the fungus mycelium.
