The load breaker switch has a movable contact element (2), which is displaced in the direction of a stationary contact (5) upon operation of a manual operating element (1), with a spring latch inserted in the path of the contact element (2) released immediately before the contacts (2,5) are brought together. The latch is provided by an intermediate element (6) between the movable contact (2) and a counter-bearing surface (9), coupled to the manual operating element (1) for releasing it during the switch closure movement.
