PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope transmission that is capable of synchronizing the movement course of the individual solar panels on the jibs of a spacecraft. SOLUTION: The transmission used for spreading out accordion-folded solar cell panels 4, 5, 6 on a spacecraft has rope pulleys 25, 25', 26, 26' on its hinges 12, etc., and round these rope pulleys, endless wire ropes 31, 32, 33 are wound. These wire ropes 31 to 33 are each provided with plastic jackets 47 and 48 fixedly fitted around them in the region other than the rope pulleys 25, 25', 26 and 26' in order to adjust their variation in length to that of the panels 4 to 6 on a temperature change and to improve their rigidity against such elongation. |
