PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to embody a reflection type liquid crystal display device which has a light diffusion layer and reflection layer within a liquid crystal cell, is free of parallaxes, has excellent visibility and is dealable with higher resolution. SOLUTION: A PDLC layer 13 is formed on an insulative transparent substrate 11 by applying a liquid mixture 12 contg. at least a high-polymer precursor and liquid crystals and subjecting the coating to a polymn. treatment in a inert gaseous atmosphere. A transparent conductive film 14 and a high-polymer compd. film (alignment layer (15) are sequentially formed on this PDLC layer 13. A metallic film 17 and a high-polymer compd. film (alignment layer) 18 are sequentially formed on another insulative substrate 16. The liquid crystal mixture 19 is injected between the high-polymer compd. films 15 and 18, by which the liquid crystal cell 10 of the reflection type liquid crystal display device of a White-Tayler type is completed. The PDLC layer 13 functions as the light diffusion layer and the metallic film 17 functions as the reflection layer. |
