PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To respectively change the bit width of input image data, and the pixel density and the bit width of output image data by changing setting given to a circuit in the same circuit configuration. SOLUTION: A LUT converting part 17a converts the input image data of (a) bit width into bit string data of (b) bit width, a LUT data width changing part 17b changes the bit string data into data of (c) bit width in accordance with the size of a dither matrix in a main scanning direction and (f) being the number of bits of output data representing output gradation to be stored in an output buffer memory 17c, and an output bit string data width changing part 17d converts the data of (c) bit width into a (f) bit being the bit width of output data when an output data selecting part 17g reads the data of (c) bit width. Individual circuits 17h composed of 17a to 17d are provided for 10 lines, and the output data selecting part 17g sequentially and selectively reads bit string data for one line only from the output buffer memory 17c of a designated individual circuit 17h determined by the size of the dither matrix in a sub scanning direction.
