The present invention relates to a fringe field switching liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same, through which an array substrate can be fabricated by repeating a four-time mask process using a lift-off process. To this end, in a third mask process, a common electrode is patterned by repeating etching twice and an overcoat layer hole is formed by etching an overcoat layer of the primarily patterned common electrode by using a mask. In addition, a fourth mask process, a protective layer hole, a pixel electrode and a pad sub-electrode are simultaneously formed by using a half-tone mask and a lift-off process. Therefore, the number of masks is reduced to reduce the manufacture cost, and productivity can be enhanced. In addition, transmissivity is improved by forming a fine overcoat layer hole. |
