[Also in Division G1] Apparatus for producing a substantially neutral atmospheric electric charge comprises a differential ion counter (see Division G1) connected to a clamping type recorder actuated periodically by a timer to indicate the magnitude and polarity of the nett charge. The measured value is caused to actuate a motor to set a variable transformer which supplies a high voltage power supply connected to a grid in the air supply to the region under examination, the voltage and polarity applied to the grid being thereby adjusted so as to tend to correct for the nett charge measured by the differential counter.
