Rollers 15 or wheels or slide bars (not shown) supporting a suction cleaner nozzle 10 are lowered or raised relatively thereto by bending or straightening a resilient axle 14 or other bendable elongate member carrying the rollers or other supports. Near its ends the axle 14 passes through slots 21 in webs 22 and at its middle passes through a hole 19 in a screw 17 engaging a threaded socket 18 rotatable by a hub 20 to raise or lower the middle of the axle thereby lowering or raising the rollers 15 or other supports. Reversible rubber strips 23 may be mounted along the longitudinal edges of the nozzle opening, or one edge may be provided with a brush and the other with a reversible rubber strip. The axle 14 or parts thereof can be replaced by a leaf spring. |
