Catalytic combustion of ammonia and oxygen - to nitrogen and water

Catalyst used is a CO-conversion catalyst consisting of Fe2O3/Cr2O3 pref. contg. 5-6% Bi2O3 based on Fe2O3 and the catalyst bed is kep below 570 degrees C and is pref. pre-heated to 400 degrees C. The mean linear gas velocity in the catalyst bed does not exceed 100 cm/sec. and the process is operated with a small excess of O2 pref. such that the end gas contains 0.5 vol. % O2.
