Dryer for e.g. air using absorptive material having coaxial cylinders - with projecting annular or spiral ridges in space between cylinders on surfaces of one or both cylinders

A dryer has an outer cylinder (2) which has an inlet at one end and is closed at the other end, an inner cylinder (3) which has an inlet and an outlet at opposite ends, and a moisture absorbing material (4) in the inner cylinder and in the space (12) between the cylinders, through which a gas flow passes from the inlet of the outer cylinder to the inlet of the inner cylinder and from there to the outlet of the inner cylinder. The novelty is that in the space between the cylinders, the outer and/or the inner cylinder is provided with at least one projecting ridge (2a,3a). A number of annular projecting ridges is preferably used, at least one being located on each of the cylinders. USE/ADVANTAGE - For absorbing moisture from e.g. air by means of an absorptive material such as silica gel. The moisture absorption efficiency is improved, the rate of heat dissipation is increased, and the time period required between successive regenerations of the absorbent is extended.
