The method involves using a signal to control the position of the circular wheel, and includes generating a signal which includes first and second identification pulses for controlling a position of the wheel. A disc loading detection pulse is also created between the two identification pulses. A first time period, between the descending edge of the first identification pulse and a rising edge of the disc loading detection pulse, is calculated. A second time period between the descending edge of the disc loading detection pulse and a rising edge of the second identification pulse, is also calculated. The rotation of the wheel is stopped if a difference between the first and second time periods is greater than a pre-determined amount. After the last stage their is an operation to display a disc loading fault.
