PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and easily create various font data from font image when taking in a font image. SOLUTION: After storing a desired boldface specification value and character attribute information in RAM (S1→...→S6), the character image (S7) is plotted based on the character attribute information. Next, after changing the position information for plotting the character image (S8), the boldface specification value stored in RAM is decremented (S9), and then, the processings of S7→S8→S9 are repeated until the boldface specification value becomes '0'. And, when the boldface specification value becomes '0', the outline generation processing is executed (S11) and the outline data are generated (S12).
