The motor has a stator, a rotor comprising a number of windings on a core and a cover plate bearing brush arms for feeding current to the rotor windings via a commutator on the rotor and terminals for connecting the brushes to an external source of electrical supply. A positive-coefficient thermistor is held between a pair of electrically conductive supporting members of which one is connected to one of the brush arms and the other is connected to one of the terminals, such that the thermistor is in the path of electric current in the motor.The other of the brush arms is electrically connected to the other of the terminals adjacent a brush holder in which the respective brush arm is supported in the cover plate
