PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter for digital camera which can keep the surface of the subject side of an image pickup unit in a suitable state to be photographed. SOLUTION: A rear curtain is disposed between a shutter bottom plate 1 and an intermediate plate 2, and a front curtain is disposed between the intermediate plate 2 and an auxiliary bottom plate 3. The front curtain consists of two arms 6 and 7 and four blades 8-11. A wiper member 11a made of a flocked fiber material or the like is attached on the surface on the side of the auxiliary bottom plate 3 of the slit forming blade 11 disposed most close to the side of the auxiliary bottom plate 3 among the blades. Even when fine powders generated by the operation of the shutter adheres on a surface on the side of the subject of an image pickup unit 4, the fine powders are wiped off because the wiper member 11a strokes the surface on the side of the subject of the image pickup unit 4 whenever the slit forming blade 11 operates. Thus, a suitable image can be always obtained for every photographing.
