The image signal processing unit and method can display two image signals on a screen without any resolution deteriorating of vertical or horizontal signal. It comprises: the first and the second signal processing block processing the brightness and the chromaticity signal of the first and the second digital image signals; the control block extracting vertical and horizontal signals from the image signals and generating the sampling clock, the first/second vertical/horizontal synchronous signals, the read/write enable/clock/clear signal, and the switching signal; the image synchronous block that synchronizes the second brightness/chromaticity signal with the first according to the control signal from the control block; the image signal delay block delaying the first brightness/chromaticity signal according to the first vertical synchronous signal and the first horizontal synchronous signal to display the first image on the desired location; and the signal mixing block that mixes the second brightness/chromaticity signal into the horizontal line unit of the first brightness/chromaticity signal delayed by the switching control signal from the control block.
