A typical dyestuff may be obtained by condensing e.g. 1,3,3-trimethyl-2-methylene-indoline-5-carboxylic acid with p-(N-cyonoethyl-N-methylamino)-benzaldehyde. It dyes polyacrylonitrile rose shades with excellent fastness props. - Dyeing is generally effected in aqs. neutral or acid medium at 60-100 degrees C, or at above 100 degrees C under press. Those dyes dissolving readily in water are also suitable for dyeing plastics, and natural or artificial resins, the dyeing having good fastness to light and wetting.
