These compounds may be prepared by reacting a compound X-(CH 2 ) n -X<SP>1</SP>, where X and X<SP>1</SP> each represent a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom or a mesyloxy or tosyloxy group, with at least two moles of an alcoholate MOCH 2 C#CH, where M is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, or by reacting a compound MO(CH 2 ) n OM with a compound XCH 2 C#CH. The alcoholate may be formed in situ from the alcohol and the metal or a hydride, amide or hydroxide of the metal. An inert organic solvent, e.g. dimethylformamide, dioxane, hexamethylphosphoric acid triamide, tetrahydrofuran or dimethoxyethane, is used for these reactions. The compounds are insecticides. |
