An appts. for gutting fish comprises a revolving, bladed wheel which enters into the slit belly cavity of the fish, the wheel being pivotally mounted about an axis parallel to its own axis. The wheel is guided by a narrow strip bearing against the body of the fish. The blades of the wheel are of a flexible rubber-elastic material; in front of each blade there is a cut-out portion in the disc of the wheel, which extends forwards through a length at least equal to one-eighth of the circumference. Pref., this cut-out portion is rectangular in shape, i.e., its two sides are perpendicular to one another. The use of the rubber blades enables the entire gut of a fish to be removed without excessive damage or breaking up, in particular fairly large fish such as cod.
