PURPOSE:To obtain the title inorganic yarn comprising silicon, nitrogen, oxygen and a metal in a specific ratio as essential components and carbon and hydrogen as arbitrary components, having excellent mechanical strength, by spinning polymetallosilazane and calcining. CONSTITUTION:A spinning solution containing polymetallosilazane is spun by dry spinning and made into a ceramic by calcining under a vacuum condition or in an inert gas atmosphere at 500-1,800 deg.C to give the aimed inorganic yarn which comprises silicon, nitrogen, oxygen and a metal (one or more of metallic elements of group 1- group 8 of the periodic table of element) as essential components and carbon and hydrogen as arbitrary components and atomic ratios of the elements are N/Si=0.3-3, O/Si=0.001-15, M/di (H is the metal)=0.001-5, C/Si=<=7 and H/Si=15. |
