PURPOSE:To improve a throughput by a construction wherein a fixer for accelerating the fixing of an ink on a sheet after recording and a means for measuring a recording density of a part of the sheet disposed on the fixer are provided, and a sheet feeding is temporarily brought to a halt to enhance fixing properties when a recording density increases over a preset value. CONSTITUTION:In the construction, a fixer 9 for accelerating the fixing of an ink on a sheet 7 after recording and a means for measuring a recording density of a part of the sheet 7 disposed on the fixer 9 are provided, and a sheet feeding is temporarily brought to a halt to enhance fixing properties when a recording density increases to a high density over a preset value. For a means for measuring a recording density, a counter integrating the number of dots, the number of characters, or a non-printing area of printing data temporarily held in a buffer memory in a RAM 34 is used. Then, a fixing control is conducted by a method in which a recording density is measured before the feeding of the recording sheet 7, and with the recording density higher than a preset value the recording sheet 7 is fed after the elapse of a waiting time for fixing an ink. In this manner, fixing properties in a high-ink density part can be improved without reducing a throughput. |
