PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a polyester excellent in transparency, heat resistance and a lower aldehyde content in a short time at a low cost. SOLUTION: This polyester composition contains, in a polyester produced from terephthalic acid or its ester forming derivative and ethylene glycol or its ester-forming derivative in the presence of an antimony compound which is a polymerization catalyst, at least one species of a metal compound selected from an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, cobalt, manganese, titanium and zinc, a phosphorus compound and an antimony compound satisfying formula I: 0.4<=M<=1.0, formula II: 0.5<=M/P<=1.2 and formula III: 1.4<Sb<=3. Here, M is the sum total of moles of the alkali metal, the alkaline earth metal, cobalt, manganese, titanium and zinc, P is the whole mole number of phosphorus and Sb is the whole mole of antimony based on 10 g of the polymer, respectively. |
