PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the supporting stiffness of a rocker shaft, and to prevent an enlargement of an engine, in an internal combustion engine wherein a bearing portion rotatably supporting a cam shaft is provided on a cylinder head in one or another body and a rocker arm following the rotations of the cam shaft is rockably supported by the rocker shaft. SOLUTION: A rocker shaft holder 44 supporting the rocker shafts 36, 37 and fastened and fixed to the bearing portion 43 is provided with a storing recessed portion 48 to which the bearing portion 43 is partially inserted.
