The system has two accelerometers (11, 12) fixed on a backrest (3) and guide rails (2) of a seat, respectively to provide a signal representing an absolute inclination of the back rest with respect to a vertical axis and a signal representing an inclination of a floor pan of a vehicle. A comparator receives the signals representing inclination angular values to provide a value of inclination of the backrest with respect to the pan.
