PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dazzling to another vehicle due to initialization action turning an optical axis to a front surface side, in a light distribution variable type headlight system capable of laterally varying the optical axis of a headlight. SOLUTION: The light distribution variable type headlight system is composed of a headlight lighting device 4 receiving direct-current power supply and turning on/off the headlight according to a signal turning on/off the headlight 3; and a light distribution variable device 6 receiving the direct-current power supply at least during the headlight 3 is turned on, and changing the optical axis of the headlight 3 in a lateral direction according to a traveling state of a vehicle. The light distribution variable device 6 detects the signal turning on/off the headlight 3, and carries out initialization control turning the optical axis of the lateral direction to the front surface side by interlocking with the signal turning on the headlight 3.
