PURPOSE:To construct a lightup device in small size by impressing a high frequency voltage, which is to start lighting-up of fluorescent lamp, on an approach conductor arranged along the fluorescent lamp through a switching element. CONSTITUTION:The electrodes of a fluorescent lamp 3 are preheated, and a high frequency voltage enough to maintain lighted up is impressed between these electrode with unlit condition held. When high frequency voltage is impressed on an approach conductor 4 of the fluorescent lamp 3 through a switching element 21 after passage of a certain time from preheating of the electrodes, a micro-current flows between this proximity conductor 4 and the electrodes with a floating capacitance between the conductor 4 and fluorescent lamp 3, and it starts glow discharging with this micro-current and lights up. Accordingly the switching element 21 to directly implement start of lighting up the fluorescent lamp 3 may be of a type with small current capacity to admit flow of micro-current. Thereby the whole construction of the lightup device can be made in small size. |
