PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the adhesiveness of a polymer material to tissue surfaces and other substrates by forming the polymer material by polymerizing an aq. soln. of polymerizable monomers in contact with the tissue surfaces or a suspending liquid and forming the material in such a manner that the standardized compliance ratio of the tissues and the material is confined within a range of specific values. SOLUTION: One or more kinds of initiators or components of an initiation system are directly applied on the surface and the unabsorbed excess components are removed by washing or absorbing. The initiator soln. may further contain one or more kinds of the polymerizable monomers and other useful disposition components including accelerators, coinitiators, sensitizers and comonomers. Next, the liquid contg. the polymerizable monomers together with one or more kinds of the initiators or the components of the initiation system is applied. The standardized compliance ratio of the polymerized material is equiv. in its magnitude to that of the tissues to which the material is applied. The standardized compliance ratio is from about 0.05 to about 3 when the reform of the natural expansion and contraction of the tissues is desired. |
