Novel compounds of the formula in which R is the acyl residue of an organic carboxylic acid or an alkyl or aralkyl radical and R1 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino or trifluoromethyl, are prepared by heating a compound of the Formula IIa or IIb: at a temperature greater than 110 DEG C. in the presence of a base and, in the case of compounds of the Formula IIb, optionally in the presence of an acylating agent which will react with a group to produce a group, e.g. bis-(imidazol-l-yl)-thione or thiophosgene in the presence of a tertiary amine.
