PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method enabling to separate the enantiomer of a 2-haloalkanoic acid at a low cost in comparison with a conventional method for separating the enantiomer of the 2-haloalkanoic acid. SOLUTION: This method for reducing the concentration of the D-enantiomer in the mixture of the D-enantiomer with the L-enantiomer comprises treating the D-enantiomer and L-enatiomer mixture of a 2-chloro or bromoalkanoic acid under such a condition that at least a part of the D-enantiomer is converted into 2-hydroxyalkanoic acid or its derivative with a D-2-chloro or bromoalkanoic acid halide hydrolase obtained from a microorganism belonging to the genus Pseudomonas. |
