A nebulizer, preferably in breathing appliances, for supplying variable quantities of liquid to a gas which is flowing in a given path with a predetermined speed, comprising conducting members 18, 20 which have a first axis for defining the given flow path, a nebulizing chamber 16 which intersects the said conducting members 18, 20 and extends away from the said axis, a venturi member 22 which can move in the said chamber 16 relative to the said axis and which is arranged to supply liquid particles to the said flowing gas, and also locking members 27, 48, 50 for releasably retaining the venturi member 22 in a predetermined position relative to the said axis, as a result of which regulation of the quantity of liquid which is conveyed to the flowing gas is dependent on the displacement of the venturi member 22 from the axis and independent of the gas flow. The present invention also relates to a process for controlling or guiding the quantity of liquid which is conveyed to a gas, which gas is flowing with a selected flow rate through a nebulizer of the abovementioned type, with the said guiding or controlling being achieved by means of a liquid particle source, which is located in the nebulizer, being moved sideways relative to the axis of flow of a gaseous medium which is flowing through the nebulizer. <IMAGE> |
