With this method and installation for producing glucose and/or starch, carbon and water are put in an electric arc in the presence of oxygen, using a source of electric power, according to the principle of photosynthesis, for forming glucose C<u6>uH<u12>uO<u6>u; the glucose obtained is drawn from the installation in an amount which is proportional to the carbon and water supply and then is transformed by dehydration into starch C<u6>uH<u10>uO<u5>u; methane or natural gaz (purified) may be used instead of carbon, and steam may be used instead of water and the reaction carried out under high pressure; the installation is thermally insulated. Whenever methane or purified natural gaz is used, oxygen is supplied in proportional amount. |
