PURPOSE:To obtain a novel water-absorbing material having comparable water- absorptivity to granular or powdery water-absorbing resin and having excellent secondary processability, by graft-copolymerizing a polyolefin substrate with >=50% polar vinyl compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective water-absorbing material is produced by graft- copolymerizing a polyolefin substrate (e.g. PE, PP, ethylenepropylene copolymer, etc.) with >=50wt% polar vinyl compound [e.g. acrylic acid (ester), methacrylic acid (ester), (meth)acrylamide, etc.].
