A roll shell, particularly for treating web-shaped material, is provided with an inner and/or outer shell surface, wherein the roll body (4) is cast on to an inner steel pipe (2) and/or outer steel pipe (3) in a material-locking manner. Thus the roll has on its inner shell surface (and if necessary on its outer shell surface) an absolutely close-grained structure, which comprises a wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant shielding. <IMAGE>
