DYE CARRIER SHEET FOR HEAT TRANSFER

PURPOSE: To enhance homogeneity by adding a small amt. of a crystallization modifier consisting of molecules essentially the same as dye molecules except that a single moiety is replaced by a more bulky substituent in addition to the dye molecules. CONSTITUTION: In a thermal transfer dyesheet containing a support substrate material coated with a compsn. wherein a thermal transfer dye is dispersed in a polymer matrix, the above mentioned compsn. contains a small amt. of a crystallization modifier consisting of molecules having essentially the same molecular structure as dye molecules except that a single moiety is replaced by a more bulky substituent in addition to the dye molecules. The content of the modified dye is 0.01-10 wt.% of the unmodified dye depending on the degree of modification. A dye found especially beneficial from such additive is an anthraquinone dye having rod-shaped molecules extending in the lateral direction with respect to the main axis of the crystal.
