Cathode ray tube disposal and recycling - scores glass surface for separation by electrically heated wire or strip

In the recycling and disposal of cathode ray tubes (CRT), the CRTs are initially scored at their surfaces at one or more points. Heat is applied to the scored sections, by a metal wire or strip, to fracture the glass at the scored lines. Working tables, to hold the CRTs, are located at intervals in an automatic assembly with a cycled operation according to the layout of the workstations, with an adjustment to set the working tables at the correct height. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system is for the disposal and recycling of CRTs from TV receivers and VDUs from computer terminals, with retention of glass coating materials to prevent escape into the environment. The operation separates the components of the CRTs from each other for recycling.
