The unit has a recess (3D) provided on an inner side of a flat material that has a maximum initial thickness of 5 millimeter, where the thickness of the material is reduced to 50 percentage of its initial thickness in the area of the recess. The recess forms a regular and mechanical load requirement for a rib structure on the inner side of the flat material. Stabilization bars (5) are provided within a part of the recess. An aluminum sheet or aluminum section is used as the flat material. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a lining unit for a rail vehicle.
