A filter, for installation inside a chamber (14) with a tubular wall (12), comprises a body (26) supported in a selected axial position in the chamber by a spring steel strip (38) in a flexed and pre-stressed configuration. The strip is attached by a toothed aperture to molded a projection (36) on the body of the filter, with its ends (40) pressed against the internal walls of the chamber, its length at rest being greater than the internal dimension of the chamber.
