PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce a long object having excellent straightness by inserting a supporter having the shape of a column, shape of a cylinder or shape of a cylinder with the bottom and further having a prescribed outside diameter into a vertically standing long size compact having the shape of a cylinder with the bottom or the shape of a cylinder and firing the supporter- inserted long object. SOLUTION: A supporter 1 having a prescribed outside diameter D1 , and further having the shape of a column, shape of a cylinder or shape of a cylinder with the bottom is vertically stand, and inserted into a ceramic long compact 2 having the shape of a cylinder with the bottom or the shape of a cylinder and the compact is fired. The compact 2 is formed out of a β-alumina tube, and the outside diameter D1 of the supporter 1 and the inside diameter D2 of the calcine obtained by calcining the compact 2 are regulated so as to satisfy the formula 0.4mm<=D2 -D1 <=0.6mm. The material at the contact zone of the supporter 2 and the compact 1 is preferably selected from β-alumina, spinel and MgO. By the method, the bending and distortion in the radius direction formed in the firing is suppressed to a tolerance and the long compact having a prescribed straightness is fired. |
