A sacrificial anode for cathodic protection of buried pipelines consists of two shell halves installed around a welded join between two pipe sections where the mill wrap coating has been cut back prior to welding. Inside each shell is a liner of pitch-polymer and nibs protruding inwardly from the inner surface of each shell penetrates the liner so as to make positive electrical contact with the pipe when the two halves of the anode are bolted in place. |
