PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition essentially comprising an electron- donating coloring organic compound and an aryl derivative, enabling repeated color development and fading reversibly and continuously by the aid of heat, and presenting high durability to both heat and light. SOLUTION: This composition essentially comprises (A) an electron-donating coloring organic compound (pref. crystal violet lactone) and (B) an aryl derivative bearing a phenolic hydroxyl group and at least one electron-donating substituent (pref. alkyl, aryl or alkyoxy) adjacent thereto [pref. 1,1-bis(6-methyl-4- hydroxy-3-t-butylphenyl)butene].
