<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, for example, that printing cannot be continued through selection of the other paper feeding tray in a situation where an image forming apparatus is immediately turned in an off-line state and is disabled to communicate with an external host apparatus if no printing paper is present in a paper feeding tray selected to feed the papers, and hence the image forming apparatus is not returned until the printing papers are replenished in the paper feeding tray. <P>SOLUTION: There are set an I/F transmission reception processing part 2 for carrying out transmission reception of data with the host apparatus, a plurality of the paper feeding trays 67 and 68, an analysing/editing processing part 3 for analyzing the received data and outputting printing starting information SELI which determines the paper feeding tray to feed the printing papers at the time of printing among the plurality of paper feeding trays, a sensor part for detecting whether or not the printing papers are stored, and a control part 16.
