An air filter for ventilating plant comprises a plurality of filter cells 20 arranged in a zig-zag stacked manner in an open ended housing 11, each cell comprising a bed of activated carbon enclosed between two flat moulded polystyrene panels (Figs. 5 - - 8, not shown), the panels being pierced by holes which are elongated in the longitudinal direction of the housing parallel to the general air flow. The cells are closed on three edges and internally divided by integral walls (48), while a fourth edge may be opened by withdrawing a slidable closure strip (51) exposing each compartment in turn. By this means one compartment may be emptied and the contents sent for testing and the refilled cell replaced in the housing until the test result is known. The cells 20 are seated in grooves 29 formed between alternately oriented triangular protrusions 28 of moulded polystyrene side walls (27) of the housing. At the outlet 16 fixed closures 30 seal between adjacent cells, and at the inlet 15 a removable assembly 32 carries similar closures 34, assembly 32 having lower studs 35 and upper screws 38 and, when removed, permitting cells 20 to be withdrawn from the housing. |
